The objectives of our Peer Mentor program are to facilitate friendships;
share experiences; show consistency; create memories, make an impact
and promote inclusion and acceptance of children with special needs in
the mainstream of everyday life.
Peer Mentors participate in various educational and creative projects
with children with special needs. These specially designed events
provide one-to-one interaction between a mentor and a child where both
can benefit from the activities and the guidance that a Mentor can offer.
Autism Family Tours with Brianna, in partnership with Pathways for Exceptional
Children, offers a targeted training course to educate our Mentors on effective
methods of interaction with children with special needs.
Being a Peer Mentor is rewarding and builds leadership skills as Mentors are
encouraged to help create and lead events; through program development,
execution, coordination of refreshments and clean up.
Peer Mentors are usually in middle or high school and are involved in many things.
Activities are offered during the week and on weekends, so that you can attend the
events that interest you and best fit into your schedule. Thinking about becoming a Peer Mentor? It can be what you want it to be; after
school, weekend, sports field, gym, crafts, music, etc. The only limits are your
imagination. Contact us for more information.
