On a beautiful Saturday morning on April 24, 2010, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle church, Autism Family Tours with Brianna, Inc. in collaboration with Intensive Therapeutics launched their bike club kickoff.  Since December of 2009 children with special needs have been learning to ride a 2 wheel bicycle indoors under the superb direction of Occupational Therapist, Scott Matthews and staff.  A sincere thank you to Fr. Paladino of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church, Pastor Marsha of Evangel Church, Barbara Martin of Fanwood Presbyterian Church, and Michael Kowalski; Principal of Crossroads school for their support in donating space for our children to learn. With the support of these very special places of worship and educational facilities, our children became successful to ride a 2 wheel bicycle with the assistance of our Peer Mentors that donated their time, energy and talent to be role models for our children. A special thank you to Patrolman Stomber of the Fanwood Police Department for helping us arrange this event and the officers present along with Officer Brown and the Scotch Plains Police Department. Officer Brown lead a discussion about Safety and rules of the road as it pertains to bike riding. An obstacle course was designed for our children to practice the techniques that were learned.
